WORKSHOP TO HELP BLACK CAR
OPERATORS IMPROVE THEIR BUSINESSES

BROOKLYN, NY, April 23, 2002-Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) and the Boricua College Small Business Development Center will present a free, workshop to help black car owners improve their businesses.

The workshop, "Black Car Operators: Get the Most Out of Your Business," will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002, at BEDC's offices 175 Remsen Street, Suite 350, downtown Brooklyn. To register, call the Small Business Development Center at Boricua College, 718-963-4112, ext. 563. Seating is limited.

"We are offering this workshop because this is an especially critical time for black car owners, many of whom were affected by the aftermath of the World Trade Center disaster," said Hector Rivera, managing director of BEDC. "In addition to the technical and financial assistance BEDC and the Boricua College Small Business Development Center have been providing, we have been meeting with a number of black car operators to see how we can extend our assistance."

BEDC, a private, nonprofit organization, was established in 1979 to stimulate Brooklyn's economy and create job opportunities for the borough and its residents. BEDC has evolved into a multi-service, business-consulting agency, serving more than 1,000 clients annually and offering comprehensive economic development services.
