SMALL BUSINESS WORKSHOP ON SAFETY, HEALTH,
BROOKLYN, NY, September 4, 2002-Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) and the Boricua College Small Business Development Center will present a free workshop "Safety, Health, and Environmental Requirements for Your Workplace" from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2002. The workshop will be held at BEDC’s offices 175 Remsen Street, Suite 350, downtown Brooklyn. To register, call the Small Business Development Center at Boricua College, 718-963-4112, ext. 563. Seating is limited. The session is designed for small commercial or manufacturing businesses including those in the construction, printing, automobile-related, restaurant, and dry cleaning industries. Topics will include Safety and Security is Good Business, how to lower costs and increase productivity; Complaint and Helplines, the telephone and web resources available; Safety Equipment and Protective Gear/Clothing, which rules apply to specific businesses, and Safety Rules, Regulations, and Permits, how to develop a safe workplace and present and eliminate work site hazards. The workshop will be presented by representatives from the U.S. Department
of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the New York
State Department of Labor, New York City Department of Environmental
Protection, New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health, New
York Association for New Americans, and other workplace safety advocates. |
