FREE WORKSHOP ON COMMERCIAL LEASING FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

BROOKLYN, NY, September 17, 2002-Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) and the Boricua College Small Business Development Center will present a free workshop on commercial leasing for small businesses.

The workshop, which will cover the basics of leasing space for a small business, will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2002, at BEDC, 175 Remsen Street, Suite 350, downtown Brooklyn. To register, call 718-963-4112, ext. 563. Seating is limited and registration is required.

Topics will include:

  • What is the difference in leasing office space and retail space?
  • How do I negotiate a commercial lease? Can leases be verbal?
  • Who has to pay for repairs? Can I make improvements?
  • What can lawyers and brokers do to assist in securing commercial space?

Speakers for the workshop are Domenick Napoletano, an attorney, Michael Sharp, director of Education and Special Programs for BEDC, and Angel Lavergne, a property manager.
