BEDC ELECTS NEW BOARD MEMBERS

BROOKLYN, NY, September 12, 2002-Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) has elected two new members to its board-Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, who will serve as an ex-officio member, and Michael A. McMillan, a vice president at AT&T, Mark O'Luck, chairman of the BEDC board has announced.

"As BEDC plans for its future growth, we continue to need the support of both the public and private sector," Mr. O'Luck said. "The addition of the borough president and a major corporation in New York City will help provide the expertise in a number of areas that BEDC requires to move forward."

Borough President Markowitz remarked, "I am honored to accept my appointment to the Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation’s Board. BEDC has played a major role in the economic renaissance that is occurring throughout our borough and I know it will be an important economic force as Brooklyn continues to grow in the future."

Michael Burke, chief of staff for the borough president, will represent Borough President. Markowitz on the board.

Mr. McMillan said, "I'm excited to be joining the board at the Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation. I admire BEDC's commitment to stimulate economic growth and neighborhood stability. I am interested in using my experience to support Brooklyn as it continues to be a major force in the business sector and to maximize the potential of its 33,000 businesses."

Mr. McMillan, who is a sales vice president of AT&T, began his career 20 years ago with the telecom giant. He oversees a 60-member team that delivers business solutions to more than 500 medium to large businesses with headquarters in the New York region. Throughout his extensive
career, Mr. McMillan has held a series of management positions including operations, quality, marketing, project, and sales. Mr. McMillan graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor of business administration degree and holds a master of business administration from
Xavier University.
