SMALL BUSINESS WORKSHOP ON
EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS AND RETIREMENT PLANS

BROOKLYN, NY, November 4, 2002-Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) and the Boricua College Small Business Development Center will present a free workshop "Employee Benefits & Retirement Plans for You and Your Small Business" from
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2002.

The workshop will be held at BEDC’s offices 175 Remsen Street, Suite 350, downtown Brooklyn. To register, call the Small Business Development Center at Boricua College, 718-963-4112, ext. 563. Seating is limited.

The program will cover the advantages to employers and employees of having a retirement plan and will discuss no cost or low cost benefits.

Representatives from the IRS, Department of Labor, U.S. Treasury and DML Associates will speak on the following topics:

  • What retirement options are available? The full array of tax favored retirement vehicles for small business owners will be discussed including: SEP-IRA, Simple IRA, Payroll Deduction IRA, Savings Bonds, 401(k), and Profit Sharing.
  • How employee benefits help keep good employees.
  • The value of "Life Planning" and Social Security.
