START-UP BUSINESS TAX WORKSHOP

BROOKLYN, NY, October 11, 2002-Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation (BEDC), the Boricua College Small Business Development Center, and the Internal Revenue Service are sponsoring a "Start-Up Business Tax Workshop" for small businesses and self-employed individuals from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2002.

The workshop will be held at BEDC, 175 Remsen Street, Suite 350, downtown Brooklyn. To register, call the IRS’s Small Business and Self-employed Taxpayer Education & Communication division at 718-488-2909. Seating is limited and registration is required.

The workshop is designed for start-up businesses and will include information on small business tax filing requirements; record keeping; the electronic federal tax payment system, and using one’s home for a business. Speakers from the Internal Revenue Service, Small Business Administration, New York City Department of Finance, and New York State Department of Taxation and Finance will make presentations. A free tax kit will be available.
