Tax Information for Contractors

On June 10th, 2008, NYSAMC, the New York State Chapter of the National Association of Minority Contractors, Medgar Evers College and the IRS partnered to present a Small Business Forum for the Construction Industry. Contractors were invited to learn about: Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN); Worker Classification (Employee vs. Independent Contractor); Workmen's Compensation; Minimum Wage Laws; New York State Sales Tax.

Small Business Assistance Initiative in Bushwick/Cypress Hills

Thanks to a generous grant from City Councilmember Erik Martin Dilan, BEDC will be running a series of comprehensive outreach and FREE support services for small businesses in the 37th City Council District, which encompasses parts of Bushwick and Cypress Hills. These services will include a business needs survey, a FREE business assistance clinic on Fridays in Cypress Hills, and walking tours made by a business counselor to businesses throughout the council district.
