BROOKLYN OVERVIEW

Welcome to our website! We hope it will serve as your gateway to Brooklyn, a land of opportunity for the current or prospective entrepreneur The borough continues to undergo a dramatic renaissance as newly constructed office and retail space and a new hotel contribute to the transformation of its downtown district. Its central business district is located near the historic Brooklyn Bridge, a five minute subway trip to Lower Manhattan and Wall Street.  Ongoing infrastructure improvements, its big consumer market, and great human resources add to its desirability as a place to do business.

The largest of New York City's five boroughs, it is home to 2.45 million residents. The most populous county in the state.  If it were a city Brooklyn would be the fourth largest in the country. Its diverse population consists of over ninety ethnic groups from every corner of the globe.

Brooklyn is home to over 33,000 businesses in every industry and a skilled labor force of 938,000 workers, with about 410,000 people working within the borough. With lower operating costs than Manhattan, ample commercial and industrial space and easy access to the Tri-state metropolitan marketplace (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut), Brooklyn is an ideal location for your new or expanding business.

Its many communities characterize Brooklyn, each with a distinctive vibrant cultural flavor of its own. Yet all its residents share the unique sense of a broader community in their identification as Brooklynites. Brownstones on tree-lined streets, diverse artistic communities, and world-renowned institutions like the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Brooklyn Museum, the Aquarium for Wildlife Conservation, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and world class restaurants, make Brooklyn a great place for tourists, visitors and permanent residents alike.

Its 71 square miles are covered with thousands of acres of parkland, seven miles of sandy beaches, and 65 miles of shoreline. Getting around the borough is easy as you can take advantage of 15 subway lines, 67 bus lines, 1600 miles of roadways, and close proximity to major international and domestic airports and waterways
